I am a fourth-year Bachelor of Arts student specialising in Painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Faculty, Lithuania. My artistic practice explores themes of identity, memory, childhood, nostalgia, and the relationship between personal experience and the surrounding environment. Through painting, I examine how individual memories and experiences shape our understanding of ourselves, while also considering how identity is continuously influenced by the places, people, and cultures we encounter. My work often begins with personal experiences and memories, often connected to chilldhoood. I am interested in how memories can become fragmented, transformed, or reconstructed over time, and how seemingly ordinary moments can carry deeper emotional significance.
I am particularly interested in ordinary objects, familiar surroundings, and elements of nature, which I use as starting points for exploring personal experiences and memories. Through painting, I search for connections between the everyday and the personal, between what is familiar and what is distant.
Visually, I work primarily through subtle layers of colour, exploring the interaction between light tones, muted shades, and neutral hues. I am drawn to soft transitions and delicate contrasts, using colour and light to create a sense of quietness and sensitivity. The layering process allows the paintings to develop gradually, with each layer partially concealing and revealing what lies beneath. This becomes both a visual and conceptual reflection of memory itself—something that is never completely fixed or fully accessible, but instead exists through fragments, traces, and overlapping experiences.
